Nicholas Abou Risk is the Canadian player who won this year's UKIPT title, capturing the £50,000 first place prize and a £5,250 seat in the upcoming PokerStars EPT London main event.
The 25 year-old Canadian who lives in Dublin, Ireland, outlasted a field of 401 players, which included plenty of big names in poker such as: Neil Channing, Julian Thew, Vicky Coren or Liv Boeree.
Nicholas Abou Risk started the final table as a chip leader, joined by two women, Mary Martin and Suzanne Pyefinch and by Joeri Zandvliet, a former UKIPT winner. The heads-up play between Risk and Mantas Puidokas lasted only 20 minutes.
“I had a good feeling on that first day and was talking through a lot of hands with Liv Boeree,” said Risk. Realizing that she had some respect for my game gave me a lot of confidence and I started stealing a lot more blinds,” Risk said.
Here are the final table positions and payouts:
1. Nick Abou Risk, Canada, £50,000;
2. Mantas Puidokas, Lithuania, £27,700;
