Students from the National University of Singapore have chosen to pull of gambling for spreading their environmental message.
The Singapore students used roulette games and slot jackpots to raise awareness on the climate changes. The NUS students created the “Climate Casino” concept, an interactive exhibition, part of the university's month-long green-carnival. The exhibition is organized by SAVE, the Students Against the Violation of the Earth. In the roulette element on the campaign, the player needs to get as many positive messages as possible, while in “Jack-politics”, their aim is to get four representative nations on the slots.
Also, the NUS students want to spread one particular message – that the humanity is gambling away its future. The climate casino hopes to demonstrate the detrimental consequences of our current lifestyle, which hurts the environment.
In addition to that, the green carnival points up on a three-week campaign, which aims to conserve five icon plots of green spaces with mature heritage trees within the National University of Singapore for the next 20 years.
“We came up with this concept of climate casino, where players gamble with nature and bet with their future. So this is the message that we are trying to bring across - that you are actually gambling with your future now by leading your various lifestyles and should do our best to change,” NUS green carnival project director Tan Wei Rui said.
